About MOVE IT OR LOSE IT!®

MOVE IT OR LOSE IT!® is a National Programme of Exercises for the over 60’s, which has been developed in partnership with the Centre for Healthy Ageing Research at the University of Birmingham.

The programme was founded in 2010 by award-winning exercise instructor, Julie Robinson, who has dedicated her career to motivating thousands of people to keep active in later life. Her company has now grown nationally with a network of instructors delivering exercise classes to thousands of older adults every week.

MOVE IT OR LOSE IT!® has encouraged over 100,000 older adults to get moving more and have fun. The programme of exercises appeal to those who don’t access traditional forms of physical activity, and this extends way beyond the weekly class.

The exercises are scientifically proven to improve muscle strength, leading to better balance, and helping to reduce the risk of falls. Each session incorporates exercises to improve Flexibility, Aerobics, Balance and Strength (also known as FABS), and games to help with coordination and memory. These all help to keep older adults physically and mentally active for longer, which is so important for independence, health and well-being.

The aim of MOVE IT OR LOSE IT!® is to have exercise classes accessible to every older person across the UK, to help them improve their physical and mental health. Nationally, Specialist Instructors are working within their community, health and care organisations to help achieve this.
